1. Eligibility

ShareHope is open to individuals of all ages who share an interest in Christian faith and community. By using our platform, you represent that:

• You are at least 13 years of age, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction.
• You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
• All information you provide is accurate and truthful.

2. Accounts & Security

To access certain features, you may need to create an account. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• All activities that occur under your account.
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are compromised.

3. User-Generated Content

ShareHopeallows you to post topics, comments, prayer requests, and other content ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you represent and warrant that:

• You own or have the necessary rights to the content you post.
• Your content does not infringe on the rights of any third party.
• Your content complies with these Terms and all applicable laws.

You retain ownership of your User Content. By posting on ShareHope, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the platform.

You may delete your User Content at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will remove your content from our systems within a reasonable timeframe.

4. Prohibited Conduct

We are committed to maintaining a respectful, faith-centered community. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

• Posting content that is hateful, discriminatory, harassing, or threatening.
• Sharing false, misleading, or deceptive information.
• Spamming, soliciting, or advertising without authorization.
• Attempting to access other users' accounts or data without permission.
• Using automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access or interact with the platform.
• Impersonating another person or entity.
• Posting content that violates applicable laws or regulations.

We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these standards, at our sole discretion.

5. Intellectual Property

All content created by ShareHope — including but not limited to design, layout, graphics, logos, and editorial content — is the intellectual property of ShareHope and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission.

6. Disclaimers

ShareHopeis provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the platform's reliability, accuracy, or availability.

The content on ShareHope — including discussions, articles, and prayer requests — is for informational and community purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional theological advice, counseling, or medical guidance.

We do not endorse or verify the accuracy of User Content. Any views expressed are those of the individual authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of ShareHope.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to ShareHope at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. We may retain your data as described in the Data Retention section below.

8. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information:

• First name and last name
• Email address
• Password (stored securely using bcrypt hashing)
• Profile avatar (if uploaded)

User Content:

• Topics, articles, and posts you create
• Comments and replies
• Prayer requests
• Likes and reactions

Usage Data:

• Pages visited and features used
• View counts on topics
• Device type and browser information

9. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the ShareHope platform.
• Authenticate your account and manage your session.
• Display your content and activity to the community.
• Improve our features and user experience.
• Communicate with you about account-related matters.
• Enforce our Terms of Service and community standards.

10. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL database, as our primary data storage layer. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We implement the following security measures:

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage.
• Authentication is handled via secure, httpOnly JWT cookies with a 7-day expiration.
• All data access is restricted to authenticated and authorized personnel only.
• API endpoints are protected with proper authentication and validation.

While we take reasonable precautions, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

11. Cookies & Tracking

ShareHope uses the following cookies:

• Session Cookie— An httpOnly cookie named "sharehope_session" used to maintain your login session. This cookie expires after 7 days and is essential for authentication.

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We use Vercel Analytics, a first-party, cookie-free analytics service, to understand aggregate site traffic (such as page views, referrers, and regions). It does not set cookies and does not identify you personally.

12. Third-Party Services

ShareHope integrates with the following third-party services:

• Supabase — Used as our primary data storage provider (hosted PostgreSQL). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and is subject to Supabase's security and data protection terms.
• Google Sheets API— Retained as a legacy, read-only backup of content and still used to power Events and Devotionals. Where data remains in Google Sheets, it is subject to Google's privacy policies.
• Google Fonts — Used for typography. Google may collect font request metadata.
• CKEditor — A rich text editor used for content creation. No user data is transmitted to CKEditor servers.
• Vercel — Hosting and our analytics provider. Fetching our pages may cause Vercel to log standard web-server data (such as IP address and browser type) for security and aggregate, anonymized analytics.

We do not use advertising networks or social media trackers.

13. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Specifically:

• Account data — Retained until you request deletion or we terminate your account.
• User Content — Retained until you delete it or request removal.
• Session cookies — Expire automatically after 7 days.

Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days. Some content may be retained in anonymized form for community integrity purposes.

14. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Deletion — Request deletion of your personal data and account.
• Portability — Request your data in a structured, commonly used format.
• Objection — Object to processing of your personal data.

15. Children's Privacy

ShareHope is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of ShareHope after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
